A very special walled, medieval city of arts and history. Huge ramparts, half-timber houses, the old city moat filled and made into gorgeous gardens and with a busy summer festival of music concerts, Cannes also has the best market on a Saturday morning…or a smaller one on a Wednesday.
Vannes hosted the 16th century summit when the Duchy of Brittany became united with France. Since then the old town, behind its ramparts, has remained more or less untouched.
